Carl Fredricksen (Edward Asner) is a taciturn boy who befriends Tomboy girl named Ellie, who was both idolized Charles Muntz, an explorer. Then Carl and Ellie were married. Their lives are shown without the scenes talk looks very happy, with the cheerful music and obsession is having their first child. After preparing everything, reality changes when she stated by doctors that he could not get pregnant. For a moment the music becomes slower and sad, but returned into the spirit when Carl and Ellie tried to set aside their income to fly to Paradise Falls, where Charles Muntz earlier. Still, obstacles always arise so that they always use money from savings had been, until finally they both become grandparents. Carl, who realize they have not reached an obsession to buy a ticket to South America, and want to give a surprise to her. However, before the dream is achieved, she first passed away. This led to Carl really lose enthusiasm for life and become quiet and withdrawn.
That morning, as usual Carl got up early and run activities. He came out, sat in a chair and zoom out that his house was his home there in the midst of construction work, hinting that his house will also be evicted soon. He went to check the mailbox, and had chatted with one of the construction workers. When watching TV, he met with Russell (Jordan Nagai), an eager boy scout, and will help him do anything. After being deceived by Carl, and Carl Russell went to see his mailbox almost hit by a loose because tronton. Carl was angry and struck one officer, dragged him to court and eventually the right to the house and the land fell into the hands of construction workers last boss. After he realized he knew that he had arrived in Paradise Falls, but can not go back into his house because he had fallen. Then he and Russell walked, carrying the house by pulling it with ropes.
Jungle, Russell found Kevin, a giant bird that resembles an ostrich, and they became good friends because Kevin likes chocolate, and Russell had a lot of chocolate. Carl was not like Kevin, until he met again with Dug, a dog who can talk with a collar translate. Four of them having adventures, while Dug has three friends (or enemies) dog named Alpha, Beta, and Delta. Then Carl knew that having Dug, Alpha, Beta, Delta, and the dogs are Charles Muntz, his hero from childhood. Charles Muntz who was expelled for having spread the rumors about aliens from Paradise Falls was not wrong, he has the bone structure, and finally Carl realized that the bone was very similar to Kevin. When Charles Muntz know that Carl has Kevin, he told his dogs to chase Carl and Russell and Kevin who fled. They could be caught, but failed to get caught because of the Dug assistance. After being saved, Charles Muntz really cornered them and managed to get Kevin, while Carl decided not to save Kevin, and lives in Paradise Falls.
Carl, who returned to find the book adventures of Ellie, seeing that this time he did is also wrong when he saw the various pictures and Ellie while they are still together. Then he saw the writing Ellie "Thanks for the adventure. Got a New one! Ellie." and realized that he had to save Kevin. He then came out to talk with Russell who was upset about it, but in fact Russell had gone ahead with the Muntz giant ship chasing balloons from Carl's house. Carl tried to follow Russell, who was there captured by Muntz. After rescuing Russell, he saves Kevin, but fight with Muntz. After Russell took home the giant ship upwards Carl Carl, Kevin and Dug are, they prepared to leave, but Muntz shooting balloons at his home with a shotgun. Carl can not move because he was holding the rope house, but after he outwit Muntz, he told Russell, Kevin and Dug to hold ditali which he held, while Muntz falls from heights and how his fate is unknown. They rejoice because it managed to make Muntz lost, but Carl feels sad because her house and her fall from that height.
Russell and Carl, home to the place of origin with a giant ship Muntz and those who followed Russell attended the ceremony. Russell picked up Carl as his adoptive father, while Kevin was home to the place of origin and Dug makes Carl as the new owner. They ate ice cream ice cream dikedai, while playing guess the color of the car. Dug, Carl, and Russell happy life, while a return to Paradise Falls, Carl and Ellie's house with a perfect landing at Paradise Falls, exactly as they dreamed of.
