The Eagle is a 2011 historical epic film directed by Kevin Macdonald, and starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, and Donald Sutherland. Adapted by Jeremy Brock from Rosemary Sutcliff's historical adventure novel The Eagle of the Ninth (1954), the film tells the story of a young Roman officer searching to recover the lost Roman eagle standard of his father's legion in the northern part of Great Britain. The story is based on the Ninth Spanish Legion's supposed disappearance in Britain.

The film, a British-American co-production, was released in the U.S. and Canada on 11 February 2011, and was released in the United Kingdom and Ireland on 25 March 2011.

Movie Synopsis
In the year 120 AD, 5,000 of the mighty Roman legions, under the command of Flavius ​​Aquila, marched north to bring their precious symbol, golden eagle. But they never returned. 20 years later, after hearing a rumor that the Eagles have been seen at a temple in the north, Flavius ​​son named Marcus (Channing Tatum) is determined to restore the reputation of his father. Accompanied by a slave Esca (Jamie Bell), Marcus and then headed into the highlands of Scotland are dangerous to deal with these wild tribes, make peace with the memory of his father, and re-capture the sacred Eagle. Along the way Marcus and then realize that the mystery of his father's disappearance may be related to the identity of his own slaves.
